Chinese Ming Dynasty 16th Century Blue & White Porcelain Bowl
This blue & white porcelain bowl was made during the mid to late 16th century, c. 1550 - 1570. The curved body standing on a straight foot is of particularly fine form. The underglaze blue pattern features a lotus blossom pattern in the centre with a trellis border around the inner rim. The outside surface remains undecorated. There is some staining to the glaze, mostly to the outer surface, a result of long burial.
This bowl is a good size with a diameter of 14.25 cm (5.5 inches). There is a fine hairline and small chip to the rim. There is no repair or restoration.
