Large Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Bowl - 16th Century
This unusual blue & white porcelain bowl was made during the mid to late 16th century c.1560-1580. The outer surface is simply decorated with just a scrolling pattern surrounding the foot, whereas the inner surface is much more elaborately decorated. In the centre is a bird standing in water, presumably a heron, together with various plants and blossoms. The surrounding wall is decorated with a pattern featuring lotus leaf panels and tassels.
Diameter 21.5 cm (8.5 inches). There is a small chip to the outer rim edge and three cracks, two of which emanate from firing cracks. There is no repair or restoration.
