Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Jar
This nicely-shaped porcelain jar was made during the 15th / 16th century. It is made in two halves, upper and lower, that have been luted together, the join being clearly visible when looking inside the jar. The underglaze blue decoration is of good colour and features a lotus flower scroll and lotus panels, the lotus being a symbol of purity and perfection. The unglazed base has fired to a pale reddish-brown. This jar is in fine condition with no restoration or repair, although there are minor "frits" to the glaze to the rim edge, a feature often seen with this type of ware of this period. Height 10 cm (4 inches).
Please note; the wooden base on which this jar stands in one of our images is a photographic prop and is not included in the sale.
