Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Bowl - Buddhist / Pine
This blue & white porcelain bowl was made during the early to mid 1500's. The central pattern is the double-vajra (Buddhist sceptre). The outer wall is decorated with an unusual floral design, featuring the pine, representing strength, longevity and steadfast friendship. In places there is some kiln grit embedded within the glaze, also some staining to the inner surface caused either during firing, or as a result of long burial.
Diameter 15 cm (6 inches). This bowl does have a good ring when tapped although there is a repair to part of the foot ring.
