Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Jarlet
This small porcelain jar was made during the late 15th to early 16th century. It is "heavily-potted" and coated in a thick glaze with an underglaze blue floral pattern decoration. The flat base remains unglazed.
Diameter 6.25 cm. There is no repair or restoration although there is minor old damage to the mouth edge.
For information: similar jarlets were recovered from the "Lena Shoal" shipwreck that was dated to be within the last ten years of the fifteenth century, which falls within the reign of Hongzhi (1488 - 1505).
