Large Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Bowl - 16th Century
This large blue & white porcelain bowl was made during the mid to late 16th century, c.1550 - 1570. It is decorated to the inner surface in underglaze blue of good colour with a lotus blossom pattern in its centre and a trellis border around the inner rim. The outer surface is simply decorated with three blue lines around the rim and foot. To the base is a seal mark. The foot is a little chipped, most likely caused during manufacture. There is the usual minor "fritting" to the glaze at the rim edge.
A good size with a diameter of 21 cm (8.25 inches). No repair or restoration and a good ring when tapped.
