Antique Tagalog gauzy abaca embroidered blouse (3)

Three antique gauzy abaca (banana plant fiber) blouses (called “baro”) from the Tagalog area in central Luzon, Philippines circa the early 1900s. This type of blouse was worn in other lowland Philippines as well. A prominent feature of each blouse is the butterfly-like sleeves, which are embroidered with floral motifs. Each blouse measures about 18 inches on the bodice, 13 inches from shoulder to hem, with each butterfly-like sleeve measuring about 12 x 13 inches. There are light dirt accumulations and a few very small tears; the light pink blouse has an inch of irregular tear at the tip of the right sleeve (visible on the picture).
