| A woman’s pair of gold ear plugs/discs (called "pamarang") ensemble from the Bagobo (possibly Bilaan) people of south central Mindanao, Philippines circa the 1950s. Made of 9-carat gold, each ear plug has a central orb motif, probably representing the sun or a star, with an inner set of seven rays and a second layer of 14 rays. Attached to the ear plugs are chains and strings of small mostly black and white and some varicolored beads, with the strings ending in multi-colored cloth pompoms. The beads on the strings and chains are arranged so as to look like four-petalled flowers. Each gold plug has a diameter of an inch while the longer beaded strings vary in length from 7 to 12 inches and the shorter ones, one to two inches. The gold ear plug ensemble is in very good-excellent condition, with some dirt accumulation on the plugs. | ||
