| A woman’s abaca (banana plant fiber) belt with metal bells from the Bagobo people of south central Mindanao, Philippines circa the 1950s. Made of dark brown, red and natural color abaca woven/braided strands with 30 metal, probably iron, small (about a half-inch in diameter) bossed slit bells, the belt produces a light, clear jingling sound as it is moved. Measuring about 33 inches long with seven-inch long abaca double braided strands to hang the bells, the belt is in very good, strong condition, albeit with two bells chipped and some fraying on the waist band. | ||
