Gaddang mother-of-pearl beaded ear pendants
A Gaddang female pair of ear ornaments from the Gaddang people of northern Luzon, Philippines circa the 1950s, perhaps earlier. This type of ear ornaments is also worn by the Kalinga, Bontoc and Ilongot peoples of northern Luzon. Each ear ornament is made of two butterfly-shaped mother-of-pearl shells, the larger one is about 1x2.5 inches, the smaller one, 0.5x1 inch, with an inch of strung multi-colored beads to hang from a brass ring. The ear ornaments are in very good to excellent condition; the mother-of-pearl shells have become yellowish with age.
