Letter opener hand made of sterling, brass, and copper by Los Castillo, Mexico, c.1940. Well executed married metals design on front and back comprise the top of the piece. It is signed "LOS CASTILLO TAXCO STERLING MEXICO #58" and was made before the bellmark system was instituted by the Mexican gov't. in 1947. Shown is one of THREE(3) rare STERLING napkin rings by the famous German design company, WMF. Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik(WMF) was founded in 1853 and produced beautiful Jugendstil silver plate items. It is rare to find any WMF sterling silver. The napkin rings are signed: "WMF STERLING 925 GERMANY (sterling German hallmark) " and are in excellent condition. Of good size, they measure 1 3/4" high. Very beautiful design and probably made in the 1960's...

The classic sterling and rosewood three-piece carving set by Hector Aguilar, Mexico, c.1944. The set usually consists of only two pieces. Set consists of a two-pronged meat fork(14" long) and two carving knives(17" and 15 1/2" long each). The rosewood and sterling handles have a glorious design and the knives blades are iron(and have some rust). The handles are in excellent condition. The fork is marked "HA(stylized) 940 TAXCO 9(bellmark)...

Classic cheese knife made of sterling and rosewood by Hector Aguilar, Mexico, c.1948. This heavy gauge silver piece shows a lush Mexican design with a curved sterling blade and measures 6 1/4" long. It is signed "HA(flared) STERLING TAXCO MEXICO 9(bellmark)TALLER BORDA" and is in good condition. There is an 3/4" slight age crack in the wood on one side and there is a bit of metal roughness at the outer edge on both sides that could be original...

Handmade, each are of slightly different proportion - each are approximately 3" high and 1 3/4" diameter at the base. Quite heavy, they each way, approximately 3 troy ounces. Each are marked "LOS CASTILLO STERLING MEXICO HANDWROUGHT 15". The interesting thing is that one is marked "123" and the other,"153", although they are a matching set...

Pair of nautilus-shaped silver and ebony handmade ashtrays by William Spratling, Mexico, c.1940. More a work of art than anything, this lush silver design sits on a silver base which then sits on a rectangular ebony base. They each have a curved oval at the top of the silver opening to hold the cigarette. In excellent condition, they each measure 2" high by 2 or 2 1/4" wide(hand made and not exactly the same)...
