Pair of nautilus-shaped silver and ebony handmade ashtrays by William Spratling, Mexico, c.1940. More a work of art than anything, this lush silver design sits on a silver base which then sits on a rectangular ebony base. They each have a curved oval at the top of the silver opening to hold the cigarette. In excellent condition, they each measure 2" high by 2 or 2 1/4" wide(hand made and not exactly the same). Made of heavy gauge silver, each are signed "SPRATLING SILVER(in oval) WS(around which says) SPRATLING MADE IN MEXICO". Excellent condition. Very beautiful and rare.....$16 for insured USA shipping plus applicable NY tax.
