Bronze figure of a young woman. Signed Yoshiake
Figure of kneeling young woman in bronze covered with a dark patina. Very fine, expressive sculpture in naturalistic style characteristic of human representation in the Post-War period. Signed: Yoshiake.* Japan, ca. 1960–1970. H 22.5 cm. Condition: Excellent. * Tatekawa Yoshiake (b. 1918). He began his training as a sculptor at the College for Fine Arts in Tokyo in 1940 where he remained for a period of 4 years. Since then he has participated in numerous exhibitions, including the prestigious Niten, mainly in Japan, and has made several large-scale sculptures for public projects. His works are in several museums throughout Japan.
