Large and very attractive, broad-shouldered vase of Shigaraki stoneware. The surface is partly covered by a spotted, okra-greenish glaze that has burned to a smooth, oily black. Signed w. impressed seal in bottom. Japan, ca. 1960. H 35.5 cm, D 31. Condition: Flawless.
