A fine, signed bronze sculpture in naturalistic style.
An elegant and very expressive figure of a grey hound in bronze with dark-brown patina. A fine sculpture in naturalistic style. Signed: Yoko-e * with ingraved seal. Including signed kiri-box. Japan, ca. 1950. H 23.5 cm, L 26.5 cm. Condition: Flawless. * Yoshizumi Yokoe (1887–1962). Important maker of bronze sculpture in the early modern period in Japan. Many public exhibitions in the early Post-War period. Participated in the 1st UNESCO Art Exhibition in 1957. He lived and worked in Meguro in the Tokyo area and was one of the founding patrons of the Meguro Art Museum.
