| Modernist Art Deco platter or tray designed by Carl Conrad Braun for the International Silver Co. of Connecticut circa 1940. From a group of designs by Braun known as the Tropical Line. The designs evoked Scandinavian influence or incorporated tropical forms. The tray's central concave stepped design frames the figure of a draped woman upholding a tray of fruit. An example of this bold platter was featured in the exhibit "Modernism in American Silver" curated by the Dallas Museum of Art. Pictured in the book associated with the exhibit culled from the museum's permanent collection, page 145. Dimensions: 12" W, 15 3/4" L. | |||||||
