Extraordinary wine or claret Jug from the famous Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF) workshop, made in Germany circa 1900. The tall fine-cut crystal glass carafe shaded from green to clear is cut with robust rambling florals and vines in the Moser style. The Art Nouveau silvered pewter mount and hinged cover depict the same florals in detailed relief. An undulating whiplash handle and a reticulated vine finial complete the elegant naturalistic form. Photo of an example of this carafe is pictured in Antique Collectors Club reprint of the firm's well-known 1906 catalogue, color plate II. A drawing of the design is illustrated on page 137 as well. WMF mark impressed upon the handle. Dimensions: 15 3/4" H.
