Made by the famous WMF (Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik) workshop in Germany, circa 1900. An Art Nouveau maiden emerges from an elaborate base to uphold a naturalistically formed fruit bowl. A cast putto upon the side of the stand playfully gazes upon another putto in detailed relief among berries and foliates. The reticulated bowl displays additional berries and stylized, overlapping leaves. A curving medallion removes to allow the top and lower sections to separate. A fine example designed by Albert Mayer. Illustrated in "Art Nouveau Domestic Metalwork from Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik 1906," page 62. 16 3/4" H., 10 3/4" W.
