Pair of La Paglia-designed sterling silver, dramatically interpreted blossom candelabra. The design is among the finest forms originally created for Georg Jensen U.S.A. by Alphonse La Paglia in the 1940's when they commissioned American designers for silver offered in their New York shop. Jensen ceased offering these designs in the late 1940's. This stunning La Paglia pair was made by the Durham Silver Co. of New York circa 1950. Design is pictured in "Jensen Silver, The American Designs," on page 111. An original ad for the design states:
"Base represents the earth, spherical and tubular forms symbolize flower bulbs and roots...". 8 1/2" H., 10: W.
