Beautiful, unique 'gold cap' from Osnabrück, Westphalia in Germany. 18th century. Outer cap is black silk with fine gold sequin and metal thread embroidery. Cap is cinched at the nape of the neck and embroidery compliments the inventive design. Inner cap is traditional linen. Set of 5 signed Japanese painted porcelain Satsuma cups (demi-tasse, saki, tea?), with matching saucers. Meiji period (1868 - 1912). Signed Kyoto Seiun on the bottom of the saucers and Seiun on the cups. Superb quality. Each cup has a unique design centered around a breezy Spring bird and flower theme that charmingly accompanies its' matching saucer. The paint is extraordinarily fine multi-colored enamel overglaze with painted gilding. The set is in great condition with only one duck themed saucer with rim repair (picture included).
