A Cameroons (Duala) oblong stool carved in openwork with the word KAMERUN and on the reverse with a pair of confronting leopards. Dimensions: 20 ½ in. wide x 12 ¾ in. high x 9 ½ in. deep.
Age cracks. Old repair to back of openwork panel. Early 20th cent.
The stool presumably dates from the period, pre- 1916, when the Cameroons were a German colony.
