A rare Indian alabaster figure of a seated European. Height: 4 1/8 in. 19th cent.
The figure is seated cross-legged in the Indian manner, but wears European dress apart from the cap or turban and shoes. He is presumably a merchant. The nose is chipped and the figure was clearly holding something in his right hand, which has now been lost.
