The original of this group is in the Victoria and Albert Museum, this being a museum copy, at some time mounted into a surround.

attractive Burmese lacquer kalat or baetin painted with a typical swirling hooked design in black. Diameter: 50.7 cm. Height: 26.7 cm. c. 1930-40.

These food trays are chiefly made by the Intha people of Inle lake in Eastern Burma. A similar example is illustrated in Than Htun: Lacquerware Journeys, p. 212.

A woodblock print of a Japanese boy by the sosaku hanga artist Kiyoshi Saito (1907-1997) mounted in a plain wood frame. Signed in pencil and with red seal in lower right quadrant. Dimensions: 30 x 44.5 cm. framed.

The print remains in excellent undamaged condition and has never been out of its frame.
