Pr. Rare 18thC Dutch Decorated Chinese Slop Bowls
Sold

A rare pair of Dutch decorated Chinese porcelain slop bowls enamelled with scenes of a lady dancing and a gentleman playing a wind instrument, while a black servant stands holding a bowl of fruit; in the background a distant town with a windmill, this vignette repeated on the interior. Diameter: 14.8 cm. c. 1735-45.

One with an indistinct 3 cm. hairline, the other with a 4cm. hairline with associated chip.

The design which I have not encountered before, is evidently related to the Cherry Pickers pattern. The absence of Chinese decoration under the scene creates a much stronger impact.
