19th C pieced Canton wood box comprised of an inset top panel with carved dragons among clouds and sides with carved scenes of court life. Faint pigment residue on the dragons. Interior with attached paper lining depicting birds and flowers that may or may not be original to the piece. Small key lock on front. Size: Approximately 8-1/2 x 8-1/2 x 3 inches Condition: Generally good with evidence of wood shrinkage consistent with age, a few small chips and losses, and an age crack/separation on bottom. |
