Exceptional pair of embroidered Chinese lotus shoes dating to the late Ching Dynasty. High-quality construction and fine embroidery on the apricot silk shoe body, white silk covering the heels, and yellow sashes that extend over the back of the shoes. Embellished with nicely contrasting blue silk borders and green textured silk lining. Provenance: Purchased from a Chinese lady who moved to the United States with her husband, who had been stationed in Asia during the Korean war. Condition: Very good condition with little wear to embroidery or silk. Some uneven fading of the apricot-ground color. |
