The lions are shown in full body armour together with helmets, in which the detailed decoration shown is in raised, pierced, and stamped fashion. The beasts stand foursquare, are with upturned tails, and have ceramic eyes. The heads are separable from the bodies. Similar lions were placed at the entrance of temples to ward off evil and offer protection to their owners. The lion symbolizes power, courage, and majesty in Nepal. The workmanship and the size are extraordinary with this pair...
