| Scrumptuous Sterling English Victorian Bookchain w Locket hallmarked and dated 1881-82. This one is a beauty with everything going for it! Original 19" fancy link sterling bookchain that has a slotted pierced motif on the front and is smooth on the back. Joining the 2 sides of the bookchain to the bale of the Locket is an oversized springring. The Locket itself measures 2 1/4" with bale x 1 3/8" W x 3/8" D. The etching on front is killer! There are 2 Birds near a river bank, one in flight and one on the ground, a mountain in the background and to one side is a most elaboratly carved pedestal displaying an urn with flowers. Hallmarks galore! There is a Lion Passant Hallmark on the bale and on the back is an anchor, for Birmingham, a Lion Passant Sterling Mark and the Initials J.F. of the maker in a rectangle. Inside locket is another Lion passant and a lower case gothic g. This locket dates to 1881-82. One side still has original insert ring for photo or lock of hair. Nice tight snap to closure! No dings, no monograms, no damage- just fabulous! They don't come any nicer or more complete than this! A wonderful example of Victoriana that would make a great addition to any collection! | ||
