A very rare Qing Dynasty brush washer in the shape of a Quail. Completely original in fine condition with no restoration, and original stand. 3 1/2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide, the body of the quail lifts off to reveal an internal container. The base of the container showing the feet of the quail. Former private collection of Alice Boney purchased in the 1950's in Hong Kong from Charlotte Horseman gallery.

This is a very rare stem cup with Langyao glaze, 18th Century. The exterior of the stem cup covered with a viscous langyao glaze which falls neatly to the base, the foot rim is clean and the interior covered with a creamy glaze. This is a yusamashi or water cooler, a container which is part of sencha or tea set which was made by the famous Japanese nun Otagaki Rengetsu. This piece, guaranteed authentic, is signed by Rengetsu along with a poem for which she famously carved into the surface of the pottery vessel. 3 3/8 inches across the surface. No restoration. A similar piece can be seen on page 56 of the catalog on Rengetsu "Black Robe, White Mist." Very fine.

This is a rare and fine authentic Kanban or shop sign for a wig maker. Of the Edo period, these shop signs are often copied. This one is authentic with original patina and comes from the former collection of the famous collector/dealer Alice Boney. It is 17 inches tall with original paint and patina. It was acquired by Ms. Boney when she resided in Japan in the 1950's. Many of her items are now in American museums.
