Crafted during the late 18th or early 19th Century. Hand forged cinch or girth buckles that adorned an important Warrior's or Nobleman's saddle. Iron with silver foil overlay in a traditional Mogul pattern. In very good condition with only slight wear to the silver foil adornment. Dark from oxidation but no pitting. Scarce! 4.25" x 4" & 4.25 x 2.75"

From British Ceylon, (Sri Lanka) an attractive oval silver box with hinged lid. The shape suggests that it may have been intended as a Betel or Tobacco box. The delicate, foliated design further suggests a Moghul influence. With a well crafted hinge and frosted silver interior it is In very good condition with only slight abrasions from use and age. Size, 2.75" x 3.75". 1870-1890.

A sweetmeat box, (Mithaidani) or perhaps a Betel Box, (Pandan) in the elegant style of the Mughal nobility who once ruled India. Crafted with a petal motif surrounding the knob and the familiar melon like shape accented with fine silver beading this box probably once adorned a prosperous womans quarters. A finely crafted and decorated, rectangular silver box from late 18th C. British Colonial Ceylon, ( modern day Sri Lanka.) With a hinged, fitted lid decorated in a bas relief, traditional floral motif which continues the design on the body of the box. The bottom has in incised version of the general lid design. In very good condition with only normal wear from use and age. 3 and one quarter inches by two and one eighth inches by one and one eighth inches.
