With good age, a Kalyo-Kengu mans headress. The woven cane body is adorned with dyed goat hair, hornbill feathers and boars tusks, all attached with strips of cane. The cane is a bit brittle and the goat hair some what faded with age. The horn bill feathers are unbroken and in good condition. From a Santa Fe collection. Please feel free to call with any inquiry. The helmet body is 7.5" in diameter and the hornbill feathers 18" in length. Mid 20th C.

From the Konyak People of Northeast India, a hide shield with pigment designs and dyed goat hair tassels. In very good condition this shield is from a Santa Fe collection. It is constructed of thick leather from the Water Buffalo and ornamented with white kaolin, charcoal and red goat hair tassels. The shield grip is of woven cane and is well patinated from use. The carrying sling, while worn remains in place. There are some scuffs and edge wear but the over all condition is very good...

With rich, dark patina, this well used Demon mask is a good example of an authentic Hill Tribes Demon Mask. A tradition that precedes the arrival of Buddhism in the Himalayas, these masks were worn for various religious and later entertainment events. This example has worn and rounded edges and attachment holes, demonstrating much use. The are losses, as well as a few old cracks as shown. A scarce and desirable mask. Size 6"x 9". Early 20th C.
