| This short sword is worn by the peoples of Djibouti and adjacent areas of Ethiopia and Somalia. The nicely carved wood hilt is adorned with patinated brass tacks and an inverted brass cone at the pommel. The curved blade appears to have been made from a metal wagon or car spring. The natural leather scabbard and belt are very dry from age. The original scabbard seems to have been sewn up the back with a piece of fine wire, as can be seen in the photo of the throat. In very good but dry overall condition. First half of the 20th C. Overall length. 17.5", blade 12.25", hilt 5". | ||||||||
