CLARKE & CLARKE Art + Artifacts
|From the provincial region of north western Burma, a standing figure with extended left hand. Probably an ancestor figure that would have resided on a household shrine. Carved of wood and lacquered with an undercoat of black and finished with gold gilt, of which only traces remain, the figure is further adorned with a wig of human hair. There are holes in the ears suggesting that earrings and perhaps fabric attire may have been present at one time. The figure stands on an integral wood base. No losses with only wear to the paint and minor hair loss. A charming figure in a style never before encountered. Period 1945 Height 12".|
