US Cadet Sword

In the style of the West Point Cadet swords, (see Peterson, 1965 ed., pg.183) The cast brass and gilt hilt has a crowned pommel with panels on the face and back bearing Federal Eagles. The pommel is finished in a crown shape with a slot for a sword knot The grip is cast to suggest wire wrap which is silvered. The quillions have eagel heads at their ends. The fine quality etched blade bears the trade mark of the vendor, NC Meyers New York as well as the trade mark of the blade maker, Spartan and the standing squirrel of Carl Eickhorn, Soligen Germany. The logo is marked beneath West Germany. The blade is profusely etched on both sides. The facing side bears a panel with Wentworth Military Academy and the coat of arms of the school. the obverse also has a panel in which is etched En Dieu Est Tout, (In God is Everything). Above this panel is another small panel bearing the initials FMR and 64, (1964). The blade is in excellent condition, straight with good tip and no rust. The original scabbard has brass gilt fittings over a nickled body. The nickle has some cloudy spots which should polish out. Blade is 30" in length.
