| Originally a dispatch or message pouch, by the late 19th C. the Sabretache had become a distinctive and colorful part of the dashing Hussars uniform. This example is red with a Crown over FR in faded gold ribbon on the face of the case. Two of the three original leather suspension straps with gilt brass lion face attachment remain. The case is leather with a fabric face. As shown in the photos, the surfaces show wear from use and there are a few minor nicks and areas of damage. The interior appears to be complete and in better overall condition. An attractive and scarce Imperial German uniform accessory. Size 9.5" x 11.5". | ||||||||
