CLARKE & CLARKE Art + Artifacts
|A sword with comparatively a long narrow blade and deer antler hilt. There are some very minor losses to the horn. The blade is notched at the hilt and is somewhat rectangular there. The blade is dark with age and use and has some small areas of light pitting. The cutting edge has small nicks from use. The scabbard is hardwood with nice quality brass mounts, ornamented with incised pattern. the scabbard terminates with the tip of an antler mounted in the brass. The original finish appears to have been darker and is worn or refinished by some former owner. There are no hangers or mounts for chains. Overall length 24", blade 17.5". Early 20th C.|
