CLARKE & CLARKE Art + Artifacts
|An unusual antique restraint in the form of what may be either handcuffs or a design that would allow placing a cuff on the wrist and one on the ankle or perhaps a post. According to the family oral history of the estate from which we acquired the cuffs, these were from west British India, in the region called the Punjab, dating to the late 19th C.. Who used them or how is open to speculation. Both keys are present and appear to be original. Both locks work. There is some surface rust as shown, as well as dark spots and staining. The chain is 14" in length and one cuff has a 3" opening and the other a 2.75' opening.|
