| In the Hindu Religion, Garuda is son of Kasyapa, the law-minded grandfather of the world and his mother was Vinata. He is the King of the birds and often acts as a messenger between gods and men. He has the head, wings, talons and beak of an eagle and the body and limbs of a man. In many heroic Indian epics, Garuda is the devoted friend of, and carries Vishnu the preserver of the Universe. This fine quality, vintage carving was a part of the wooden diorama in a Hindu Temple. It was preserved when the Temple fell to ruin. Professionally mounted on a display base. | ||
