Bas Relief, Metal Sculpture, Sulieman the Magnificent

Remarkable in detail! This bronze finish metal plaque of Sulieman the Magnificient immediately captures the eye. Executed in profile, at the height of his triumphs, he is shown wearing a handsome helmet which today, is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum. Artist signed but the signature is partially obscured, as shown. Wear and slight corrosion to the finish at the bottom edge. Mounting hole in each corner. It has been suggested that this was collected in Istanbul at the end of WW1 and resided in a British collection until sent to North America in the late 20th C. Size 14.5"x20.5"
