 INDIAN CARVED IVORY FIGURE OF GANESH, E. 20th C.
Description: The son of Shiva and Parvati, Ganesha has an elephantine countenance with a curved trunk and big ears, and a huge pot-bellied body of a human being. He is the Lord of success and destroyer of evils and obstacles. The intricately detailed elephant head god depicted seated on a throne and wearing an elaborately jeweled headdress and draping attire with right leg raised above a rat enjoying a fruit filled vessel surmounted by a finely sculpted multitiered canopy covering the raised arms of the god holding the attributes, on an incorporate circular petal trimmed plinth and conforming carved wood pedestal. Height: 6" without the base and 7.5" including the base. Condition is perfect, problem free and it includes an attractive box. Shipping is FREE within the U.S.
