Introduction: Beatrice d'Este (June 29, 1475 - January 2, 1497) belongs to the best class of Renaissance women, and was one of the culture influences
of the age; to a great extent, her patronage and good taste are responsible for the splendour of the Castello of Milan, the Certosa of Pavia, and many
other famous buildings in Lombardy. A fresco with her portrait faces da Vinci's Last Supper in the refectory of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan. She is
a central character in E. L. Konigsburg's novel, The Second Mrs. Giaconda, in which Konigsburg credits her for indirectly being the inspiration for
