| J. CONDIE LAMB. Three pen and ink drawings on off-white wove paper, of a fly, a toad and an iris, respectively 6 1/8" x 4 3/8" (image), 8 1/2" x 6 1/2" (sheet); 3 1/4 x 5 1/4" (image), 6" x 7 7/8" (sheet); 5 5/8" x 3 3/8" (image), 8 7/8" x 6 3/4" (sheet), the first initialed "L," the second initialed "C.L.," the third unsigned. The sheet with the drawing of the fly has adhesive remains around the edges, recto and adhesive remains, verso; that with the toad has adhesive remains, verso; that with the iris has some foxing, recto, slight foxing, verso, and is attached along its upper edge, recto, to a card mount; minor surface soiling to each. Unmatted, unframed. No date (circa 1915). Provenance: estate of the artist. J. Condie Lamb (1900-ca.1990), American illustrator and commercial artist, professionally active in New York City, a longtime resident of East Hampton, NY. These impressive drawings were made, we believe, when Lamb was a teenager (perhaps 13-15 years of age), and are noteworthy, in view of the artist's youth, for their accuracy and attention to detail. | ||||||
