BOOK ILLUSTRATED WITH STAMPS

Louis Daléas. "De Cérès a Marianne." Intro. by Jean Orieux. Rabat, Morocco: Aux Belles Images, 1949. Ff.44,(1); original flexible card covers (covers slightly darkened, slightest wear to spine), slipcase (some rubbing to sides). Edition: 300 copies, this one of 200 numbered copies printed on "Velin Parcheminé Barjon" (there were as well 50 numbered copies on "Simili Japon Azuré Barjon," and 50 roman-numeraled hors commerce copies on Velin Parcheminé Barjon). A book of poems illustrated with stamps, a blank, ruled space heading each of the 35 poems. A five-franc stamp is in its designated space on the title-page, as published we assume, since the enclosed single-leaf "Liste des Timbres a Placer dans 'De Cérès a Marianne'" specifies "Au total: 35 timbres," in addition to listing, by page number in the published book, what stamp (by denomination, color and image, as well as reference numbers to the 1949 editions of Yvert and Tellier, and Thiaude) the owner required. The leaf following the half-title and preceding the title-leaf lists previous books by Daléas ("Sirius," "Timbres et Rythmes"), as well as two in preparation ("Timbres de Rêve," "Page Blanche Crucifixion il Était une Voix...").
