| JANE HOPPIN. "Blackeyed Susans." Oil on canvas, 35 3/4" x 23 3/4", the composition in yellow, blue, purple, brown, green and white; signed ("Jane Hoppin") on the back of the canvas, the artist's name, "Belongs to Tyson" and "Flowers 'Blackeyed Susans'" all inscribed on the stretcher, either in pencil or ink. Attractive 1/2"-wide, brown-painted wood frame with beveled sides. Fine condition. Undated, but probably circa early 1960s. The thin application of paint in the blue-painted and purple-painted background contrasts handsomely with the impasto of the blossoms, and allows the artist to impart a sense of fluidity to the picture. We have no information on the artist. | ||||||
