TWO J.G. KOUREY COAL SCULPTURES

J.G. KOUREY. Two coal sculptures, the first of two old men, each holding a bottle of moonshine, 7 1/2" high, 7" long, 4" deep (inclusive of the base, which is carved from the same piece of coal), "coal" in impressed capitals at the front of the base between the two men, the rear of the right leg of the standing figure with impressed copyright mark and, "J. Kourey 1975," the underside with a label reading, "Handcrafted from coal," and with a medallion (1" diameter) within a slight depression lettered, "A JGK Specialty Figurine, copyrighted, Reproduction Forbidden"; fine condition. The second sculpture of a seated miner wearing a headlamp, 8 3/4" high, 3 1/2" long, 3 1/2" deep (inclusive of the base, which is carved from the same piece of coal), the seat of the miner's pants with impressed copyright mark and "J. Kourey 1975," the underside with a label reading, "Handcrafted from coal," and with a medallion (1" diameter) within a slight depression lettered, "A JGK Specialty Figurine, copyrighted, Reproduction Forbidden." What looks to be an axe between the miner's feet is missing a piece (approx. 1/4" x 1/4") from what is apparently either the front (edge) or rear (butt-end) of its blade; otherwise, in fine condition.
