| A neoclassical style fluted cove gilt and black-painted picture frame, 19 1/2" x 15 1/2" (sight), 3 7/8" frame width (outer dimensions of frame, 27 1/4" x 23 1/8"), with plain, stepped sight, a broad, deep, fluted hollow and plain top edge. A 1 1/2" x (max.) 1/4" piece is missing from the sight edge; six small areas (approximately 5/8" diameter, approximately 1/4" diameter and smaller) of the sight edge are missing paint. No date; notwithstanding its circa 1860s style and the fact that it would display such paintings as Hudson River landscapes to fine effect, we feel that this frame dates from the second third of the twentieth century. | ||||||
