VICTORIAN-STYLE GILDED COMPOSITION FRAME

A gilded composition over wood base picture frame, 13 3/4" x 18 5/8" (sight), 2 1/2" frame width (outer dimensions of frame, 18 7/8" x 23 3/4"), with a deeply-set narrow sight edge, the hollow with a continuous hemispherical bead, the wide outer molding with a repeat flower and leaf motif rising to a second repeat flower and leaf motif around its outer edge. The continuous bead within the hollow is missing two shallow pieces, approx. 3 1/2" x approx. 1/8" and approx. 2 1/2" x 1/8", the missing pieces adjacent to one another along the same edge; these areas of loss have been (as has the entire frame) re-gilded at some time. Two other small areas of the same bead show slight wear. No date (probably, late nineteenth or early twentieth century).
