| A rare English double series mixed twist wine flute dating to c1760. The glass has a tall trumpet bowl atop a mixed twist stem comprising a pair of air spirals outside a white opaque gauze. Finished with a high conical foot with rough pontil. Perfect condition and made from lovely bright metal. Height: 7 3/8” Rim Diameter: 2 5/16” Foot Diameter: 2 7/8” Mixed twist glasses are actually marginally rarer than colour twist glasses (source: Barrington Haynes); though they do not command the prices that colour twists do in today’s market. Nevertheless; they are rare and valuable and this is a good tall example with a well worked stem. | ||
