| An early 18th century English Georgian ale glass dating to c1700-20. The bowl has heavy wrythen gadrooning below the well defined and heavy flammiform fringe. There is a wrythen inverted baluster to the shoulder of the stem and a basal knop. The wide foot is domed and folded. English lead glass with a slight green/blue tone that experienced collectors will associate with early production. Perfect condition. There is a small shard of air within the upper knop which gives the impression of a tear from some perspectives; however this is probably unintentional. Height: Just over 5 5/8 Rim Diameter: 2 9/16 Foot Diameter: 2 7/8 Flammiform ale glasses from such an early date are rare; the domed and folded foot on this example increases the rarity considerably and is an additional indicator of early date. | ||
