| A small Georgian baluster period patch stand dating to c1740. The platter with upturned edge; mounted on a bobbin stem and domed and folded foot with rough pontil. Lead glass and in perfect condition. Height: 1 5/8” Rim Diameter: 2 7/8” Foot Diameter: Just over 2 1/8” ‘Patches’ were a Georgian cosmetic item often identified as ‘beauty spots’; however it is said that patches were applied to the face to disguise blemishes from diseases such as smallpox etc. The patch stand therefore a dressing table item used to bear patches. | ||
